City Ballet... a Joyful Pursuit of Excellence!
ENCOURAGE more people to participate in the arts...
NURTURE their potential for success...
INSPIRE them to enjoy the arts for life...
ENCOURAGE... We are actively involved in recruiting dedicated students and loyal families who share our love of the arts and want to immerse themselves in the beauty of ballet enriched by the treasures of classical music, the strength and value of Contemporary and Modern techniques, and the excitement of compelling live theater. When you consider the valuable life skills acquired when children participate in high-quality arts activity (classical ballet, classical music, etc.), it's important to encourage more people to participate! The City Ballet emphasizes a "complete arts work" approach to teaching, incorporating a ballet curriculum which utilizes the very best in the classical arts to train the whole person. NURTURE... We believe that the best performing artists develop in an environment where high expectations are balanced by an equal measure of nurturing support. Many dance schools believe excellence is too hard to achieve, and they sacrifice quality instruction to create a fun environment where "every child succeeds." Other dance schools believe excellence must be achieved at all costs, and they sacrifice joy and passion to create a strict environment where perfection is an unrealistic goal. The City Ballet believes that each student's potential is very high, but that potential is reached with careful attention to individual needs. Everything from level placement, performance casting, corrections at the barre, evaluations, and customer service are designed to serve each student and their family with an eye toward joyful excellence. INSPIRE... Every successful endeavor begins with a clear picture of what you want to achieve. We envision a mature student who enjoys the arts for life. If they train with us for many years and decide they want to be a professional dancer, they will have mastered the technique and artistry to reach that goal. A life in the arts is a worthwhile and admirable pursuit. However, if they decide to become a scientist, or a social studies teacher, or the President, they will have gained immeasurable skills that enhance their life, no matter what their profession. They will be confident, poised, and graceful. They will live with perseverance, dedication, and commitment. They will be strong and flexible with a sound knowledge of nutrition and fitness. Not a bad set of accomplishments! |
